Egyptian actor Amr Saad is steering away from TV productions starting next year, which came upon wrapping up his highly anticipated series, "Efrag."
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Saad said that working on "Efrag" required exceptional and arduous effort, adding the cast and crew daily filmed for nearly 16 hours, an experience he described as "Exhausting but worthwhile due to the series' artistic and human value".
He expressed his pride in the work he presented, which he believes is worthy of Egypt's name and the history of its drama.
Saad expressed his hopes that the viewers will enjoy the production and be proud of a series that reflects a positive image of Egyptian drama to the Arab world audience.
He concluded by describing the production as an "ambassador of Egyptian drama," being the only drama screening on MBC Masr, MBC Iraq, MBC 1, and Shahid during the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon.
Ahmed Khaled Mousa directs the series from a script by Naser Abd Elrahman. Cedars Art Production (Sabbah Brothers) is the studio behind the drama.
The official logline for the series reads: "After 15 years behind bars, Abbas El Rayyes walks free—stained with the blood of his family. With his cousin’s help, he seeks redemption, only to confront a world far darker than his prison cell."
Along with Saad, the cast also stars Tara Emad, Hatem Salah, Abdulaziz Makhyoon, Samaa Ibrahem, Mohsen Mansour, Gehad Hossam El Din, Ahmed Abdelhamid, Omar El Saeed, Donia Maher, Alaa Morsy, Passant Shawky, and more.
"Efrag" is set to screen on the MBC Group and Shahid during the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon. Check the teaser for the series below.
Saad, born on November 26, 1977, in the Al Sayeda Zainab neighborhood, graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts.
He began his artistic career in the late 1990s with "Shahin", followed by the film "Al Madina" by Yusra Nasrallah, and then appeared in the short film "Ten Pounds".
Saad landed his first major acting role in the 2006 film "Kheyana Mashroa" (Legitimate Betrayal).
