Anghami, the largest music streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), unveiled the much-anticipated Anghami 2022 music campaign, declaring Amr Diab the first on the list.
Diab surpassed 1.3 billion listens in 2022, becoming the most listened-to Arab artist in the history of Anghami.
The app said: “We are also pleased to witness the amazing spread of emerging Arab artists, such as Wegz, Marwan Moussa, Siilawy, A5rass, BiGSaM, and Alaa, which indicates that the Arab music scene is moving in the right direction.”
Diab, born on 11 October 1961, is a multi-award-winning pop singer-songwriter. He created his own style which is often termed “Mediterranean Music”, a blend of Western and Egyptian rhythms, by 1992, he became the first Arabic artist to start making high-tech music videos.
The superstar is a Guinness World Record holder, the best-selling Middle Eastern artist, a seven-time winner of World Music Awards, and a five-time winner of Platinum Records.
