Amr Diab, Amr Mostafa Reconcile after Decades of Conflict

"El Hadaba” Amr Diab and Egyptian composer and singer Amr Mostafa have reconciled after years of differences.

Social media users circulated a video on X of the pair shaking hands during the first concert of the Egyptian-Saudi Night at Cairo Opera House's Grand Theatre on Sunday night.

Over 22 years, the pair maintained a long-term bond from an alliance that birthed dozens of distinctive songs and success in entertaining the audience in the Arab World with masterpieces that have been engraved in the minds of the fans for decades.

However, the successful relationship didn't continue to prosper, and soon a long-lasting dispute began in 2012 when Mostafa declared his anger at the selling of the songs he composed for Diab in a hefty deal that saw  "El Hadaba” getting a large sum of money and the composer receiving what he described as an "Inadequate sum".

The dispute grew with Mostafa’s statements as he slammed Diab more than once.

“Amr Diab is the person who benefited the most from me... I'm not the one seeking Amr Diab because an artist has pride... and he is supposed to be the one seeking me and not vice versa,” he said in an interview.

In 2018, Mostafa announced he would sue Diab for wasting his literary right by not writing his name as the composer of the song “Bayen Habeit,”.

In a 2022 interview, the composer opened up about his severe anger with the acclaimed singer and noted: “Mentioning his name in itself is something that makes me tick,”.

He added: "He didn't console me with my mother. I don't want anyone to talk about this topic at all because I have responses that will upset some, and I don't want to mention the name at all. It's a loss. No one dear for me. The one who was dear to me is gone and she's my mother."

The disagreements and backlash continued until Mostafa extended an olive branch to congratulate Diab on his recent birthday, nodding to the long relationship between them.
