After a few weeks, the 11th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) will kick off, here are all the released details regarding the upcoming event.

The festival will take place between March 4, and 10, and it chose Uganda as the forthcoming edition's guest of honor. In addition, the festival will pay a tribute to the Senegalese composer, director, and actor Djibril Diop Mambéty.

Therefore, the festival's board will release a book in Arabic and French about Mambéty. The book will include his biography, career, influences, contributions, reception, and analysis of his most iconic works.

Director Azza El Husseiny expressed that one of Mambéty's restored films will be screened on the sidelines of the LAFF's events. El Husseiny added that the film was restored by the leading cooperation of Martin Scorsese.

Moreover, the late artist's son will participate in the festival as he will receive his father's award, and will take part in a seminar about his father.

It is worthy to mention that the previous edition kicked off on March 25, and it selected Sudan as the 10th edition’s guest of honor to celebrate the history of Sudanese cinema.

Five Sudanese films were screened at LAFF including features, and documentaries that observe the progression of Sudanese cinema.

Moreover, the edition paid a tribute to influential Sudanese leader Al Sadek El Mahdi.

“You Will Die at 20” was one of the displayed films directed by Amjab Abu Alala, and written by Abu Alala and Youssef Ibrahim.
