A photo exhibition entitled "Palestine" inaugurated by Ambassador Wafiq Shehadeh Abu Seedo, the Consul General of the State of Palestine in Alexandria during the 40th Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, headed by film critic Amir Abaza, the president of the Cinema Writers and Critics Association.

The exhibition features the works of 13 photographers from the Gaza Strip, illustrating the hardships faced by Palestine due to the intense Israeli aggression, with numerous images portraying the region before the catastrophic conflict in Gaza.

The Alexandria Festival is one of the leading festivals supporting the Palestinian cause and was the first to introduce the Jerusalem Award, which has since been expanded to include seven Arab film festivals.

In light of the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, the festival, under Abaza's leadership, has resolved to dedicate a day to Palestine.

In addition to the photo exhibition, the event will encompass film screenings, and a national artistic evening featuring performances by the Palestinian Maqam band, all of whose members are displaced individuals from Gaza.

The 40th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, was named after iconic Egyptian actress and performer Nelly, in recognition of her rich artistic career and contributions to Egyptian and Arab cinema.
