The first details for Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy and Tunisian actress Hend Sabry's upcoming film have been unveiled.

The duo — who are two of the Arab world’s most bankable stars — are set to be paired onscreen for the first time in the Cairo-set feature "Adaf Khalko" (“His Weakest Creatures”) by Egyptian director Omar Hilal, who made a splash with breakout hit “Voy! Voy! Voy.”

In “His Weakest Creatures,” Helmy will tackle a role layered with dramatic gravitas, playing a principled zoologist who works in Cairo’s Giza Zoo in 2007 at a time when it had fallen into disrepair.

“As he witnesses the suffering of the animals he’s sworn to protect, he begins to see his own family mirrored in their captivity trapped by circumstance and yearning for freedom,” the synopsis reads. When a wealthy visitor offers to “adopt” surplus animals from the zoo, the zoologist “is drawn into a wrenching moral dilemma that tests the limits of integrity, sacrifice, and love.”

Sabry plays “a mother navigating faith, fear and survival,” according to the synopsis, adding that the film will blend elements of dark drama, comedy, and suspense.

Principal photography on “His Weakest Creatures” is set to launch on November 14 in Cairo.

The high-end Arab project is being produced by Egypt’s Film Clinic and Dubai-based Front Row Filmed Entertainment.

Rounding out the “Weakest Creatures” production roster is B Square, headed by Ahmad Badawi, who is behind Egyptian hits such as “Kira & El Gin” and “El Ruby House.”
