Egyptian actor Ahmed El Sakka's new play “Sayidati Al Jamila" (My Fair Lady) is scheduled to be staged at the Cairo Show theater, in 6th October on January 12-13.
This comes after the play's great success during its debut in Saudi Arabia's ongoing Riyadh Season.
“Sayidati Al Jamila" is a modern reimagining of the 1969 play of the same title that starred Fouad El Mohandes and Shwikar and Fouad Al-Mohandes, and the adapted by the late Bahgat Qamar.
The play was adapted from a musical based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 play Pygmalion.
It follows Kamal al-Tarouti, a specialist in etiquette, who flees from a man with influence with his friend and meets a girl named Sodfa who works as a pickpocket.
She clings to the hope of learning and changes as soon as she sees Kamal, so she goes to him in order to teach her and change her to become one of the upper class.
