The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Dokki hosted the fourth edition of its monthly cultural initiative, “Ahlan Korea,” spotlighting the vibrant city of Daegu—renowned for its rich traditions, dynamic culture, and historical significance.

The event brought together students from the King Sejong Institute currently studying the Korean language, offering them an immersive cultural experience that showcased Daegu’s unique identity and heritage.

The program opened with a regional introduction to Daegu, highlighting the city’s traditions, festive cuisine, and rich cultural heritage, followed by an interactive Daegu landmark photo-matching card game.

A variety of hands-on cultural experiences were also featured. Participants had the opportunity to try on traditional Korean attire, hanbok, gaining firsthand insight into Korea’s traditional clothing.

Moreover, attendees engaged in workshop activities, including a Minhwa craft experience. The program further included a Korean food experience, where participants sampled a selection of Korea’s signature dishes.

Mr. Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm and dedication of King Sejong Institute students in learning the Korean language and culture. He noted that such initiatives provide valuable opportunities to experience Korea beyond the classroom, enhancing cultural understanding and fostering stronger people-to-people connections between Korea and Egypt.

Launched earlier this year, “Ahlan Korea” will continue throughout 2026 in collaboration with the Korean Tourism Organization, with each edition highlighting a different Korean city for Egyptian audiences.

Educational and cultural institutions interested in participating in upcoming editions are encouraged to contact the KCC for further information.
