Following a historic gesture by the French President toward Iconic Lebanese singer Fairuz, the President of the Arab World Institute and former Minister of Culture in France Jack Lang revealed plans of another honoring for her.
Lang praised the recent visit of President Emmanuel Macron to the Lebanese iconic singer Fairuz in Beirut, and considered it a very good gesture to her and to the Lebanese people.
Speaking to International Monte Carlo, Lang said that he is very happy with President Macron's gesture. "In the past, I had the privilege of awarding Mrs. Fairuz the the Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters)," he added.
"I know her since she used to perform her concerts in Baalbek. She is an exceptional and amazing person."
He revealed the institute’s plan to honor her again, saying: "Fairuz will be honored at the Arab World Institute soon in an exhibition that will be devoted to the most famous female singers in the Arab world."
He added: "I repeat that President Macron's gesture is a very good step, which means that she is more than an artist. She is a symbol of struggling Lebanon, Lebanon that is constantly renewing its beauty, and this visit is an act of hope for Lebanon and the Lebanese people."
Earlier last Tuesday, French President Macron visited her at her home in Rabieh, north of Beirut, when he arrived in the Lebanese capital for the second time in a span of weeks.
