The 39th edition of the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival (AFFMC) will kick off this evening on Sunday, October 1st, and will continue until October 5th.

The festival is named after the acclaimed actress Elham Shaheen and will screen a total of 120 films from 25 countries, with the short film "Fatima" being selected as the opening film.

This year's edition will honor various stars including Hanan Metawea, Khaled Zaki, and Kostas Vers, among others.

The jury features prominent artists including Syrian Jamal Suliman and Mohamed Riad, who will be heading the international competition and the short film competition respectively.

Additionally, there will be an Egyptian film competition and an Egyptian Youth Film Competition, each with its own jury.

AFFMC is held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Nevin Al-Kilani, and Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria.

The festival is organized by the Egyptian Society of Film Writers and Critics and features films from Mediterranean countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
