Today, May 17 the legendary Egyptian actor Adel Emam celebrates his 83rd birthday, marking over five decades of a rich film career.

On his special day, both fans and celebrities took to their social media accounts and penned down a sweet message for the so-called "Big Boss".

Emam is the most renowned name in the history of Egyptian cinema. Born in El Mansoura city, in 1940, Emam has given numerous films that garnered attention from people across the Arab world.

Emam’s rise to fame was slow and steady and he made a lasting name for himself in the Egyptian film industry with numerous domestic and international awards and countless remarkable Egyptian movies showcasing his impeccable acting skills.

The great comedian made his big breakthrough with his success in the ‘Masrahit Elmoshaghbin’ theatre show and many remarkable films and stunning performances followed suit. His magnificent performance in the 'Al-Wad Sayed Al-Shaghal' play won much praise from Arab fans and critics alike.

The most acclaimed actor in his generation is well-known for a variety of unforgettable roles. That includes playing Prince of The Darkness, ‘Morgan Ahmed Morgan‘, ‘Hassan and Marcus‘, The lawyer Hassan Sapanekh in Al-Avokato (1983), the Arab country president in the seven-year staged play Alzaeim (1993), Arafa the flunkey in Al-Halfout (1985), the undercover policeman in Khamsa Bab (1983) and Al-Nemr wa Al-Ontha (1987).

Emam, a recipient of various accolades, including several awards for best actor for his role in the cinema title (Yakobean Building), has been the country’s highest-paid actor for decades.
