Abydos Music & Song Festival Launched in Sohag Governorate

Under the patronage of Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, the first edition of Abydos Music and Song Festival in Sohag Governorate was inaugurated on Thursday by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El Anani, and Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayim.

Organized by the Egyptian Opera House, the Abydos Music and Song Festival will run until March 12 at Sohag’s cultural sites, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture.

In remarks made on behalf of the premier, both ministers also shed light on the importance of consolidating efforts to increase tourism awareness among Egyptians, especially children, and youths.

Anani noted that organizing such cultural events is part of a promising plan by the ministry for 2022 to hold a variety of events across the Egyptian governorates to promote domestic tourism.

For her part, the Minister of Culture indicated that the Abydos Music and Song Festival, which is sponsored by Madbouli, is the first of its kind in the Sohag Governorate.

She also recognized the significant role of the soft power in reshaping awareness and developing Egypt's society.

Abdel Dayem also affirmed the importance of the role of culture and arts in promoting Egyptian civilization, pointing out that plans to achieve cultural justice among Egyptians continue to be updated.

It is worth mentioning that the festival featured the well-known singer Hisham Abbas performing songs “ Faker Ayam Lamtna,” Shoufi,” and "Black Eyes" at the Sohag Temple venue.
