“Abu Saddam” Gets Digital Release Date

Egyptian actor, Mohamed Mamdouh‘s new film “Abu Saddam” has received a digital release date.

The film debuts on the “Shahid VIP” streaming service on Thursday, August 4.

It is scripted by Mahmoud Ezzat and directed by Nadine Khan.

"Abu Saddam”, which also stars Sayed Ragab and Ahmed Dash, marks Mamdouh’s first leading role in a film.

The film centers around a 40-year-old experienced truck driver Abu Saddam getting a transportation mission on the North Coast road after he remained unemployed for years due to his severe temperament.

The transporter decides that he wants to complete the mission perfectly to rebuild his reputation, however, things get out of hand when he faces a small situation on the road.

The film received its world premiere at the 43rd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, which took place from November 25 to December 5, 2021, and earned Mamdouh the Best Actor Award for his performance.

During a panel discussion at the CIFF, the director revealed that the film delves into the truck driver community, one that she has been exploring for several years following a tragic truck accident she saw on a road.

Khan explained that the incident remained in her mind and prompted her to think about the people who spend long hours behind the wheel to make ends meet.
