Abdel Ghaffar Discusses with WHO Representative Announcing Egypt Free of 4 Diseases  in 2022

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Acting Minister of Health and Population received Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean, and his accompanying delegation, yesterday evening, Wednesday, at the Ministry’s general office.

The Minister began the meeting by thanking the WHO for its support to Egypt in addressing the Corona pandemic, in addition to its continuous support in the field of training medical teams.

Abdel Ghaffar drew attention to cooperation with the WHO   during the coming periods, to declare 2022, the year of Egypt being free from diseases (malaria, schistosomiasis, measles, rubella), as part of the Egyptian state's efforts to improve the health of citizens and follow the latest treatment and medical methods. , according to global standards.

The minister briefed the visiting delegation on the polio vaccination campaign and the extent of its success in reaching the target of vaccinating children from the age of one day to the age of 5 throughout the country.
