Abdel Basir Lectures in China On BA

At an invitation from China, and within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Hussein Abdel Basir, the director of the Antiquities Museum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, traveled to Beijing to participate in a training course on cultural heritage protection organized by the Chinese government.

Dr. Abdel Basir gave the opening lecture at the Chinese Academy in Beijing. He talked about the Antiquities Museum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Dr. Abdel Basir said that the Antiquities Museum is the first archaeological museum to be built inside a library; it includes a distinctive archaeological collection that reflects different eras of the Egyptian civilization such as the Pharaonic era, the Islamic era, the Greek civilization, the Roman civilization and the Coptic civilization.

The Egyptian archaeologist added that the Antiquities Museum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is one of the most amazing and unique museums in Egypt; as it displays a collection of artifacts in a historical sequence illustrating the greatness of Egypt's civilization over the ages.

The director of the Antiquities Museum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina also talked about the Grand Egyptian Museum saying that it represents Egypt's gift to the world and confirmed that it will be opened by the end of 2020; it will be the greatest museum in the world. It will embody the message of Egypt's eternal civilization, and will be the new home of Tutankhamun.

In addition, Dr. Abdel Basir talked about the new mummies discovery in Luxor which was praised by the Chinese media in the news bulletins, Chinese newspapers and magazines.

He confirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat and the Pyramids Archaeological Area represent the triangle of Egyptian tourism in the 21st century which will change the map of cultural tourism in Egypt.

Dr. Abdel Basir stressed the unprecedented keenness of the political leadership on the Egyptian monuments, which make Egypt a destination for the world tourists.

He praised the Egyptian-Chinese efforts in the field of archaeological cooperation and preservation of cultural heritage.

He called for holding Egyptian archaeological exhibitions in the friendly state of China. He also called on the friendly Chinese people to visit Egypt and enjoy its fascinating monuments as Cairo and Beijing have the most important civilizations in the world.

Noteworthy, there is a project to translate Dr. Abdel Basir’s books into Chinese language. The Egyptian-Russian Foundation has already translated Dr. Abdel Basir’s books into Russian language.
