At least nine farmers were killed and several others abducted after armed men attacked a village in Nigeria's northwestern Kaduna state, according to a security report prepared for the United Nations.
The assailants stormed farmland outside Kakanji village in the Birnin Gwari area on Saturday and opened fire on farmers while they were working.
Birnin Gwari has long been a hotspot for armed groups involved in kidnappings, killings, and attacks on rural communities, as insecurity continues to plague parts of northwestern Nigeria.
