The sixth session of the Egyptian-Belarusian Committee will kick off on Tuesday in Minsk, a statement by the Trade and Industry said on Monday.

The two-day meetings will be attended by a large number of representatives of government and private sector of both countries.

The Belarusian side will be chaired by the first deputy of the Belarusian Ministry of Trade.

Meanwhile, Nasser Hamed, the head of the ECS office in Russia and Belarus, said holding the joint committee comes within a framework of the keenness of the Egyptian and Belarusian governments to boost trade and economic cooperation.

He confirmed that the Egyptian-Belarusian relations are currently witnessing unprecedented momentum, especially in light of the intensive official visits exchanged between the two countries officials, pointing out to the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Belarus last June, which resulted in signing a roadmap to strengthen joint cooperation between Egypt and Belarus during 2019-2020 in the fields of industry, trade, investment and economic cooperation.

This will contribute to pushing the Egyptian-Belarusian relations to distinct levels during the coming period, Hamed added.

The meetings will review investment and trade opportunities between the two countries and focus on cooperation in the economic, scientific, and cultural fields.

Regarding the trade ties, Hamed pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in 2018 increased 10.7 percent to record $108 million compared to $97.5 million in 2017.

The Egyptian exports also jumped 17.4 percent in 2018 worth $25 million compared to $21.3 million in 2017.

Also, the Belarusian investments in Egypt are represented in 27 projects in the sectors of industry, tourism, constructions, agriculture, communications, and IT.
