At least six people were killed and dozens were injured, on Thursday, in clashes between protesters and security forces in the eastern Sudanese city of Kassala.
Hundreds of people participated in a protest on Thursday morning, rejecting the government's decision to exempt governor of Kassala from his post, according to BBC.
Earlier, Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok had exempted governor Saleh Ammar from his post after tribal elements protested against his appointment and prevented him from assuming his duties as he represents one of the tribal components in eastern Sudan.
The city of Kassala, the state capital, witnessed tribal violence that killed and wounded dozens of people days after Ammar was appointed to the post three months ago.
