The annual Film Society Festival for Egyptian Cinema, chaired by director of cinematography Mahmoud Abdel Samie, has announced the closing ceremony of the fiftieth edition (the Golden Jubilee) will take place on July 13th at Renaissance Cinema, Downtown.
The ceremony will include the distribution of the Best Awards for the year 2023, as well as honoring a number of filmmakers in different fields in appreciation of their artistic careers; pioneer of film distribution in Egypt, Antoine Zeind, composer Rageh Daoud, actress and producer Elham Shaheen, actor Ahmed Bedier, scriptwriter Atef Bishai, writer and critic Samir Gharib, and film critic Ahmed Shawqi.
The festival is held under the slogan "Long Live the Spirit of Resistance... Long Live Palestine".
It continues granting awards under the title "those who passed away," which has started since the 45th edition in 2019 but stopped last year.
This year, the festival honors the names of late Arab director Henri Barakat, late artist Sayed Bedier, late actress Hend Rostom, and late film historian Hassan Imam Omar.
