At least 5 people were killed, including two Turks, and 14 others; 3 Turks, were injured in a suicide bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Saturday, according to the Turkish Ministry of Health.

In a statement, the Turkish foreign ministry condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Turkish engineers working on the construction of Mogadishu-Afgoye road, a mega-project funded by Qatar.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for Saturday's suicide bomb attack at Lafole area, west of Mogadishu. A Turkish official and two Somali police officers were killed. A small team of Turkish engineers who were constructing a road was present at the time of the blast.

Turkish security sources said the suicide attacker used a motorcycle. They said the attack took place 15 kilometers (8 miles) away from a Turkish military base. The base is Turkey's largest military installation abroad.
