On Tuesday, award-winning director Danis Tanović participated in a masterclass at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival.
Tanović explained his beginnings with filmmaking and directing. He asserted that the wars inspired him in Bosnia and Serbia. He believed there were no films or documentaries about the horrors of this war, so, he decided to present the war. Therefore, the film's location is based on a more theatrical form, giving space for each of the four actors to express the real paradoxes and conflicts of wars.
The Bosnian director praised his work with major icons like Walter van den Ende who was one of the greatest PODs.
After that, he highlighted that the story is one of the most important features of the film. In addition, the director should have a great background in all aspects of filmmaking, not just directing.
During the event, Tanović talked about the war in Gaza, saying that the horrors in Gaza are not like any other war. I hope children can document and narrate what is happening in Gaza because there are a lot of things we didn't watch.
Finally, he underlined that the best films to talk wars are the anti-war films.
