On Thursday, 45 Cairo Film Festival hosted a panel under the theme of "Mirror of Egypt: Identity Through Lens of Khairy Beshara."
The speakers were Khairy Beshara, Aya Tarek, Haya Khairat, Adly Toma, and moderated by Omar El Zohairy.
During the talk, Beshara talked about his earliest relationship with cinema, recalling that he was influenced by his uncle's experiments in acting in Shakespeare's plays, and having massive books about cinema, theater, and arts.
He revealed that he was always motivated by the major trends in cinema and arts like the revolutionary, the realistic, and the avant-garde tendencies, giving an example of "Icecream Fi Gleem" whose main concept was "swimming in the mazes of light and shadow."
Beshara also explained that he always takes the side of the poor, and the marginalized people and he always wants to voice their voices, concerns, and life. This was deeply reflected in his films such as "Al Awama 70," "Kaboria," "Yom Helw, We Yom Mor," and "Esharet Morror."
He added that he hates watching his films, but he had to do this before the session to show an example to the audience from "Al Awama 70."
