At least 44 people have been killed after days of heavy monsoon rain triggered floods and landslides in southeastern Bangladesh, while authorities race to deliver aid to affected communities.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, flooding across seven districts, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar and Habiganj, has disrupted daily life, stranded 267,918 families and left thousands of households cut off from surrounding areas.

Power outages, damaged roads and disrupted communications have slowed rescue and relief operations. Many residents have been unable to cook for several days after floodwaters inundated their homes, while others are struggling to clean thick layers of mud from kitchens and living areas.

The army and navy are transporting food, drinking water, medicines and other essential supplies by boat to isolated communities as relief efforts intensify.

According to Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Iqbal Hussain, the government is deploying all available resources to support flood victims, distribute emergency aid, provide safe drinking water and medical supplies, and encourage residents whose homes remain flooded to move to the nearest shelters.
