Three spectators were injured after a safety barrier collapsed during a concert by Super Junior in Seoul on Sunday, raising fresh concerns over crowd safety at major live events.
The incident occurred at the KSPO Dome during the final night of the group’s three-show run. The performance was part of their “Super Show 10” world tour, commemorating the band’s 20th anniversary.
According to SM Entertainment, the accident took place during the encore segment when member Ryeowook approached the audience. Fans surged forward, placing pressure on a safety fence in the seating area, which subsequently gave way.
Emergency responders transported the injured attendees to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries including sprains and bruising. Medical staff advised a recovery period of approximately two weeks.
In an official statement, the agency expressed regret over the incident and affirmed its accountability as the event organizer. The company also pledged to implement enhanced safety inspections and preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
The episode underscores the growing need for stricter crowd control protocols at large-scale concerts, particularly amid high-demand anniversary tours and sold-out performances.
