The 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards will not be streamed, and instead be a completely private affair, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced Thursday.

'This year's event is going to be a private event and will not be livestreamed. We will be providing real-time updates on winners on the Golden Globes website and our social media." HFPA said in a statement on Twitter.

The annual show is set to take place on Sunday, January 9 without the usual glitz and glamour due to the coronavirus Omicron variant surge.

The 90-minute ceremony will be held from the Beverly Hilton at 6 p.m. PT without food, drink, audience, press, celebrities, or red carpet.

Full list of all winners will be announced via a press release after the ceremony is over.

Only HFPA members and philanthropy grantees will be allowed at this year’s Globes. They will be required to be vaccinated and boosted and present a recent negative PCR coronavirus test.

It was also confirmed that the ceremony would not be televised nationally for the first time since the writers strike in 2008 following a backlash raised against the HFPA for its lack of persity and inclusion.
