Two strong earthquakes measuring 5.7 and 5.8 struck Qinghai Province in northwestern China within 18 minutes of each other on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The first quake hit at 11:16 a.m. local time, followed by a stronger tremor in Xinghai County, part of the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Both earthquakes occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicenter located about 244 kilometers from the provincial capital, Xining.
Authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage, while assessments of the affected area were ongoing.
