Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport received, on Monday, after a six-year hiatus of direct flights from Russia to the Egyptian Red Sea resorts.
South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda, Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgiy Borisenko, and Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board were present at the airport to welcome the tourists upon arrival.
Also, Board Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company Ahmed Mansour and Director of Sharm El-Sheikh Airport Nabil El-Mallah were present, according to a statement.
On his part, Youssef expressed deep happiness over the return of the Russian tourism to Egypt’s resorts. He added that a number of introductory program will be organized for Russian journalists, media professionals, influencers and bloggers who came to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada.
Earlier today, Hurghada International Airport received the first two flight from Moscow since 2015. About 300 Russian tourists were on board.
