Authorities at Safaga Port, alongside the concerned units of Antiquities succeeded in seizing 16 artifacts before smuggling.

Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that once the concerned unit of antiquities at the port received a report of the possibility of seizing artifacts, the unit started studying the pieces to make sure of their historical and archaeological nature.

Shortly, the unit's experts confirmed that all the seized pieces are antiquities and their ownership is now for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
