A Libyan court on Sunday convicted 12 officials in the dams administration and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 9 to 27 years in the case of the Derna flood disaster last year, according to the Asharq News website.
A statement from the Libyan Attorney General's Office, via Facebook, said that the Derna Criminal Court had acquitted 4 other defendants in the case.
Last September, the city of Derna was hit by a flood disaster following a storm that resulted in thousands of deaths, missing persons and injuries, in addition to extensive material damage that included the collapse of two dams.
