Spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, Hamdy Abdel Aziz, said that the Zohr gas field produces 2 billion cubic meters of gas per day, and is one of the most important gas fields in Egypt.

He added in statements to one of the TV channels that the government is working to dig gas wells that will achieve a new leap for the Egyptian economy.

He added that the Zohr field was discovered in December 2017 and has been producing for 6 years, and production reached 5 trillion cubic feet and 9 million barrels of condensate, explaining that there is a phenomenon in all fields that is known and universal, which is the natural decrease in the discovered wells by about 15% annually.

Regarding the amounts owed by Egypt to foreign partners, the spokesman said that international companies know that Egypt respects its pledges, and has returned to work in Egypt with enthusiasm.

“International companies know that Egypt respects its pledges, and international companies come to invest in Egypt because they can achieve "Significant gains, this is normal."

On the other hand, a spokesman for the Ministry of Petroleum said: “The U.S. company ExxonMobil operates in an area in the Mediterranean, and we have the Narcissus and Khufu discoveries, in addition to the 11th stage in the West Delta region,” adding: “There is no term for revolving production in petroleum.”
