Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not had any conversations with the White House about a massive leak of top-secret U.S. intelligence documents, he said in an interview with The Washington Post on Monday.

“The Ukrainian president learned about the disclosures like everybody else in the news,” the newspaper noted.

“I did not receive information from the White House or the Pentagon beforehand,” Zelenskyy said. “We did not have that information. I personally did not. It’s definitely a bad story.”

He added that not learning about the discord leaks through diplomatic channels “is not It is not beneficial to the reputation of the White House, and I believe it is not beneficial to the reputation of the United States.”

The trove of secrets leaked online through the Discord messaging platform revealed grim US assessments about Ukraine’s war with Russia, including Kyiv’s shortfalls of weaponry ahead of a highly anticipated counteroffensive.

Previously, media reports said the leak of classified US documents, part of which describes the condition of the Ukrainian military, may have started in a chat room on a popular social media platform on the Internet.

The FBI announced the arrest of the suspect in leaking the documents, Jack Teixeira, Private in the Air National Guard.
