Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday urged the United States to exert direct pressure on Russia by carrying out a "similar operation" to oust Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, just as it did with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to Sky News.
Zelenskyy told reporters that Maduro's arrest and transfer to the United States demonstrated Washington's ability to influence Moscow when it chooses to do so. He asserted that ousting Kadyrov would make Russian President Vladimir Putin think twice before continuing the war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy added: "The United States should put pressure on Russia. They have the tools and they know how to do it. Maduro was a clear example. They carried out the operation quickly, and everyone saw the result; the whole world can see it. A similar operation can be carried out with Kadyrov."
