Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution approving the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on imposing sanctions on Iran.

Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported that according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada, the document has already been submitted for consideration by the leadership of the parliament and the National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Committee.

"To approve the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated May 27, 2023 'On the application of sectoral special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to the Islamic Republic of Iran,' put into effect by Presidential Decree No. 308/2023 dated May 27, 2023," the draft resolution said.

According to an appendix to the document, the sanctions will be imposed for 50 years.

Earlier, Zelenskyy, in an interview with Italian media, mentioned that Iran had sold over 1,000 drones and "other weapons" to Russia.

The Ukrainian president earlier implemented the decision of the NSDC on the application and introduction of changes to special economic measures and other personal restrictive measures (sanctions).

Restrictive measures were applied to 300 individuals, including citizens of the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Syrian Arab Republic.

About 141 legal entities have also been sanctioned.
