Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that more than 3,000 people have been evacuated from Mariupol, a city in southeastern Ukraine, and besieged by Russian troops.

“Humanitarian corridors worked in three regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia, and we were able to rescue 6,266 people, including 3071 from Mariupol,” Zelensky said in a video broadcast by “Al-Hurra” TV channel.

It is worth mentioning that the US Department of Defense “Pentagon” announced that it will allocate an additional $ 300 million in “security assistance” to Ukraine; to enhance its defensive capabilities.

“This decision confirms the firm commitment of the United States (US) to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in support of its heroic efforts to repel the war launched by Russia,” the Pentagon spokesman, John Kirby, said in a statement.
