Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said it is of paramount importance to ensure that the steps to end the war are effective and successful.
He added, in a video address, that negotiations in Switzerland will continue today, with teams essentially working until late evening, and additional reports will be issued regarding them.
Zelenskyy pointed out that "it is important to hold a dialogue with American representatives, and there are signals that President Trump's team is listening to us."
He clarified that he had spoken with French President Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Ministers of Canada, Croatia, and Luxembourg.
He said, "I spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. I thank them all, and I also received many other messages. Everyone is offering support, exchanging advice, and providing information, and I would like to thank everyone who provides this assistance to us—to all of Ukraine."
He stressed the importance of ensuring the effectiveness of steps to end the war and that everything is proceeding well.
Zelenskyy concluded: "Ukraine never wanted this war, and we will not be an obstacle to peace. Diplomacy is back to the forefront, and that is good. Very good. We expect the outcome to be the right steps. The first priority is a reliable peace, guaranteed security, and respect for our people."
