In his speech video on Tuesday, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the EU to impose a 7th package of sanctions as soon as possible.

Zelenskyy said that Moscow “should feel the increasing pressure to go to war and its aggressive anti-European policy” before reiterating Kyiv’s urgent need for more weapons shipments.

“The lives of thousands of people directly depend on the speed of our partners,” he added.

The president explained that the Ukrainian troops managed on the front line in eastern the country to reinforce defenses in the strongly disputed Luhansk region.

Zelenskyy mentioned that the heavy Russian shelling continues in the Kharkiv region at the same time, but the area around the Russian-occupied is gradually restored.

Earlier, the UK imposed sanctions on Patriarch Krill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, as part of new series of measures in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

The British Foreign Ministry stated that Kirill, who was recently removed from the European Union’s black list, is being punished for his support of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war.

The measures, which include a ban on entry to the UK and a freeze on assets in the country, also targeted Maria Lvova-Belova, the Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, over allegations of “forced transfer and adoption” of Ukrainian children in Russia.
