Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had discussed the issue of long-range weapons with his US counterpart Joe Biden, Reuters reported.
On Monday, Zelenskyy posted on his Telegram channel a photo with Biden, who arrived in Kyiv, calling the visit an important signal of support for all Ukrainians.
Biden mentioned at a meeting in Kyiv with Zelenskyy that the United States intends to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth $500 million.
According to the US president, Washington will supply missiles for the HIMARS system to Kyiv.
Reuters reported earlier that the United States agreed to send Ukrainian GLSDB precision-guided missiles capable of hitting targets up to 150 kilometers away, but rejected requests for ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers.
On February 3, the US Department of Defense announced another package of military aid to Ukraine totaling $2.175 billion, including GLSDBs.
