Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Saturday that his country will adhere to the ceasefire agreement, warning that any breaches will be met with a "strict" and reciprocal response, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
"Ukraine will abide by the ceasefire and will respond strictly in kind," Zelensky said, adding "The absence of any Russian air, land, or sea attacks means there will be no responses from our side."
The Ukrainian President emphasized that the Ukrainian military remains prepared for any developments along the front lines. He noted, however, that an Easter ceasefire could represent a genuine first step toward establishing peace.
Moreover, Zelensky further pointed out that the Russian side has been informed of the possibility of extending the ceasefire beyond the Easter holiday.
This follows an announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a temporary truce with Ukraine in observance of Easter.
According to the Kremlin, the ceasefire is set to take effect from 4:00 PM Moscow time today, Saturday, and will continue until the end of Sunday.
