Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of involving China in efforts to end the war with Russia, noting that Moscow’s supply of certain weapon types and dual-use components depends largely on Beijing.
Speaking in response to journalists' questions, Zelensky stated: "It is important for us to involve them [China]—not in the war, but in ending the war. I believe this is within their capability. In any case, regarding the supply of certain types of weapons and dual-use materials, the Chinese leader is capable of influencing all of that. Their involvement would certainly not be a bad thing for us, but so far, we do not see their engagement."
The Ukrainian President added that he held a "productive conversation" with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz following the latter’s visit to China, expressing his gratitude to Merz for raising the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war during his meetings there.
