Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions on his former chief of staff, Andriy Bohdan, in a move that includes stripping him of state honours and restricting his financial and business activities.
According to an official decree published on Saturday, the measures against Bohdan include freezing his assets, banning commercial transactions, and revoking state awards. The sanctions are set to remain in place for an initial period of 10 years, although no official reason was provided for the decision.
Bohdan previously served as head of the presidential office from May 2019 until February 2020, playing a key role during the early phase of Zelenskyy’s presidency.
In response, Bohdan suggested via social media that the sanctions could be linked to recent media reports alleging corruption involving Zelenskyy and his wife, though no confirmation of such claims has been issued by Ukrainian authorities.
The move comes amid ongoing political and institutional tensions in Ukraine, as the country continues to navigate internal challenges while engaged in a prolonged conflict with Russia.
Zelenskyy has recently undertaken several political and administrative changes aimed at reshaping leadership structures and maintaining public trust, particularly following previous controversies surrounding senior officials and corruption investigations..
