Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed his readiness to attend US President Donald Trump's upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest.
"If we truly want a just and lasting peace, we need both sides of this tragedy. How can there be any deals about us without being involved?" Zelenskyy was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform in a media statement on Sunday.
When asked whether Zelenskyy would insist on traveling to Budapest, he replied that he told Trump on Friday that he was "ready for it."
Prior to his meeting with Zelensky, Trump had held phone conversations with Putin, after which he announced that he would meet with the Russian leader in Budapest.
