On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, unexpectedly, canceled his address to the US Senate, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, amid US Congress studies US President Joe Biden's request for an additional aid to Ukraine.

Schumer said Zelensky canceled his virtual appearance at the Senate’s session on Ukraine and Israel after “something came up at the last minute,” according to Politico.

In addition, he didn't participate virtually in an earlier briefing held in Senate House, according to CNN.

Schumer said he would give Republicans a “golden opportunity” to vote on a border security support to the Ukraine aid package Wednesday, Bloomberg added.

On the other hand, Mitch McConnell, the leader of the Senate's minor force,  said that the House Republicans should vote against the Ukraine aid package unless “meaningful” border security changes are enlisted.

Biden has requested $61.4 billion package aid for Ukraine as part of a $105 billion package that deployed as aid for several US allies like Israel, Taiwan, US- Mexico border security.

Schumer said, early this week, that he planned to make a vote regarding the supplemental aid package this week.
