Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded, Tuesday, a "political invitation" for Ukraine to join NATO as NATO holds a summit in Lithuania next month.
Zelensky also asserted the necessity of Ukraine to be granted membership in the alliance.
He said: "There is every reason for a political invitation for Ukraine to join the Alliance."
He said there was "a full understanding of the security guarantees for Ukraine until the moment of accession."
Kyiv is still fighting for capturing NATO membership and making its bid as the alliance is getting ready for the July summit in Vilnius.
Earlier, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly said that they expect a signal of willingness to accept Ukraine later as a member of the coalition. However, NATO countries did not agree to an official invitation for Ukraine to join.
In Berlin, Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that the NATO summit would not result in a formal invitation for Ukraine to join the alliance.
