The Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, revealed the reason for the increasing number of daily cases of the novel coronavirus in Egypt, according to Sky News Arabia website.

The Minister of Health said that the reason for the increase in numbers "Is due to the behavior of citizens, which must be changed, so that we can coexist with the novel coronavirus in Egypt, until treatment drugs or vaccines are found.”

Zayed said in an interview with one of the TV programs on Saturday, “The increasing numbers of COVId-19 cases is natural and expected, and this is due to our behaviors in the dates before the ban, especially in the two weeks before the holy month of Ramadan.”

"We knew from Google engine the movement of citizens at markets and commercial centers. The rate of their movement on the markets decreased by 40 percent, but in the two weeks before Ramadan, we were surprised that it decreased 11 percent.”

The Egyptian official pointed out that the problem is not limited to going shopping at markets and commercial centers, but it is necessary to correct our behaviors through wearing masks, maintaining distances in crowded places, and keeping away from closed places without masks covering our faces, according to the state-owned newspaper, Al-Ahram.

On Friday, the Ministry of Health and Population of Egypt announced the registration of 358 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Egypt, in addition to 14 deaths.

Ministry of Health spokesman Khaled Megahed said that the total number registered in Egypt with COVID-19 until Friday is 5895 cases, including 1460 cases that have been cured and discharged from quarantine hospitals, and 406 deaths.

He explained that all cases registered positive to the novel coronavirus in isolation and quarantine hospitals are subject to medical care, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO).
