Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced on Wednesday that Tehran is ready to return to the commitments included in the nuclear agreement.

Zarif explained that Iran`s commitment will be automatically implemented if US President-elect Joe Biden lifted the sanctions imposed by his predecessor, Donald Trump.

In an interview with the Iranian Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), he said, "There is something that can be done automatically and does not require any conditions or negotiation."

The Iranian Foreign Minister added: "The United States is implementing its obligations under Resolution 2231, and we are implementing our obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," which is the official name of the nuclear agreement.

"This matter does not need any negotiations or conditions. It can be done," he stated.

Trump adopted a policy of "maximum pressure" against Iran. In 2018, he decided to unilaterally withdraw from the agreement on the nuclear program concluded between Iran the major powers. At that time, Trump re-imposed harsh economic sanctions on Tehran.
