Zamalek SC are set to face Smouha this evening in the 16 round of Egypt Cup. The game will be held on the pitch of Ismailia Stadium at 8:00 CLT.
The White Knights made it to the Egypt Cup’s round of 16 after defeating El-Sharkia 3-1 in December 2019 at the Cairo Stadium.
Meanwhile, Smouha qualified for the round of 16 after defeating Shabab El-Obour 1-0, thanks to Hossam Hassan’s 67th-minute header.
Zamalek are looking to achieve the victory over Smouha to meet the winner between FC Masr and Wadi Degla in the quarter-final. The White Knights seek to crown the Cup to compensate the fans losing the title of the Premier League, which was has been reaped by Al Ahly.
Notably, Zamalek and Smouha were held to a last minute 3-3 draw against a tough Smouha SC on September 10th in game-week 26 of the Egyptian Premier League.
The Knights, under the newly-appointed head coach Jaime Pacheco, secured a narrow 1-0 win over Al Masry in the Egyptian Premier League, cementing their position as second.
The White Castle has reached an agreement with Portuguese manager Pacheco for a second coaching spell at the club to finally bring the new coach dilemma to an end.
In his first spell, Pacheco coached Zamalek in 12 games, winning nine, losing one and drawing in another two games.
Zamalek are currently second in the Egyptian Premier League table with 64 points after 31 games played. They have a Champions League semifinal in sight against Raja Club Athletic, which is set to take place in October.
