Zamalek snatched a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Smouha to reach Egypt Cup quarter-final, setting up a clash against FC Masr.
Salah Mohsen had given Smouha the lead in the 54th minute when he unleashed a right-foot shot from the inside of the box to the left post in a wonderful show.
Hosam Hassan came close to doubling the scoring when he went through a one-to-one situation, but his shot went outside the net.
Zamalek got a penalty in the 73rd minute after the referee consulted the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which confirmed the penalty, but Mahmoud Alaa wasted it.

Eight minutes later, Imam Ashour equalised the scoring through a right-foot shot, hit Smouha's defenders, to change its direction past El-Hany Soliman.
Ahmed Sayed Zizo sealed the victory in the 114th minute, when he fired a powerful left-foot shot from the outside of the box to the right corner past Smouha's goalkeeper.
