Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated that Moscow will monitor the actions of Finland, which promised not to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory after joining NATO.

"We are following the ongoing discussion in Finland in connection with the decision to join NATO, including on the issue of deploying nuclear weapons on Finnish territory,” Zakharova said.

Zakharova recalled Finnish Foreign Minister Haavisto’s statement that nuclear weapons will not appear on the territory of Helsinki after its entry into NATO.

NATO has already offered Finland participation in exercises involving the development of scenarios for the joint use of nuclear weapons against Russia.

"We will carefully monitor how Helsinki will respond to such invitations, and we will draw our own conclusions," the Russian diplomat stressed.

Last October, the Finnish state company VR Group will completely stop the transportation of goods to Russia by the end of 2022.

"Freight traffic to the east will completely stop by the end of this year at the latest," Elisa Markula, CEO of the company, said as quoted by the Kauppalehti newspaper.

The firm had cut 65% of freight traffic to Russia by the end of September.

During the spring, Finland unveiled its intention to completely stop rail freight shipments to the Russian Federation.
