Zain Saudi Arabia celebrated on Monday, a year since releasing its 5G network in the Kingdom. The firm has been constantly developing and expanding its network.

It is launched from 20 cities, through 2000 towers, as part of an integrated expansion plan to cover 47 cities with more than 4000 towers. In addition, its expansion in the cities previously covered by the fifth generation, included update of coverage maps on a weekly basis on the company’s website.

On other hand, Zain has been keen to put its fifth-generation network in the service of the Kingdom’s digital transformation process, in a way that contributes to raising the innovation ceiling for a more advanced future through an integrated knowledge-based society and economy, possessing the latest technologies and services drawn by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

According to a report issued by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, it provided pilgrims with a pioneering experience in the 2019 Hajj season by covering the main areas in Makkah and the holy sites with the 5G network. In addition, the 5th generation services were available during launching the tourist visa in the Kingdom, as well as sponsoring many events such as the Diriyah season 2019 and the PUBG competition

The technology and telecoms consulting and research firm "Analysys Mason" praised the company’s 5G service demonstrated by its technical capabilities.

The ''Analysys Mason" report, which covers more than 110 countries around the world, indicated that Zain was able to offset the launching costs of its 5G network by developing a new revenue source using 5G fixed wireless access.

Moreover, through its successful 5G rollout, Zain was dubbed as a rising global star in video broadcasting experience by “OpenSignal,” a company specialized in mapping wireless coverage and data sources for all operators around the world, according to a report published in September 2020.
