YouTube has announced a price increase for its subscription services in the United States, with changes of up to 4 dollars set to take effect from the next billing cycle.
The company, owned by Alphabet Inc., said the price of YouTube Premium for individual users will rise to 15.99 dollars per month, up from 13.99 dollars previously.
The family plan will also increase by around 4 dollars, reaching 26.99 dollars per month.
The YouTube Lite plan will now cost 8.99 dollars per month, while YouTube Music Premium will rise by 1 dollar to 11.99 dollars per month, according to Reuters.
This marks the first price adjustment in the US market for YouTube in three years.
The platform launched YouTube Premium in 2018 as an upgraded version of its earlier service YouTube Red, introduced in 2015.
The move comes amid a broader wave of subscription price increases across the streaming industry, with companies such as Spotify, Netflix, and Disney+ all adjusting their fees in response to rising operational and content costs.
A YouTube spokesperson said the changes will help maintain features valued by users, including ad-free viewing, background playback, and access to a library of more than 300 million songs on YouTube Music.
The company also reported last year that YouTube Premium and YouTube Music combined had surpassed 125 million subscribers worldwide, up from around 100 million in 2024.
